The Areado waterfall stands in the middle of the trail that connects Sepituba point (the southernmost point of the Island that can be reached by car) to Bonete beach (the largest and most traditional local community in the region). As in the case of the Lage waterfall, which is on the same trail, the river crosses the path, and is impossible to go astray .

The river meanders in between enormous rocks, just above the point where it crosses the trail. The best waterfalls are difficult to reach: it is necessary to walk along the riverbed and, at certain points, it is necessary to crawl up between some gigantic rocks, each one the size of a house. This effort is rewarded with an amazing view and the perfect peace guaranteed by the remoteness of this place.
